Loomly Success Stories: Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement

Meet Maddie McGeffers, Membership and Fund Development Manager at the non-profit organization Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement (MAVA)

In this Loomly Success Story, Maddie shares the challenges she faced before adopting Loomly and how our social media management platform reduced her workload, giving her more time to focus on her other responsibilities.

Since implementing Loomly, MAVA has solidified its social media strategy with Loomly’s Post Optimization Tips, Post Ideas, and more.

Manage all your social media accounts in one place.

Craft, schedule, & auto-post content to all your social channels, then track analytics and manage interactions from a single, easy-to-use dashboard.

What made you want to try Loomly?

“I figured out pretty quickly that on days that I need to post stuff, navigating from Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and knowing that each of those are slightly different in how long you can post, what size pictures are best, and all of those little nuances, I was going to be spending way too much time for how much time I had available to do that work.

"It was critical to get that support through software.”

💡 Loomly Tip: Loomly’s built-in image and video editor, Loomly Studio, lets you quickly crop and resize your images and videos to match every social media channel’s specific ratio requirements.

Favorite Loomly Feature: Content Creation & Workflow

“Loomly has steps that are clearly outlined. You have to hit next to go to the next one, but if you want to circle back and change something, it’s not a huge headache to figure out, ‘Where did I put that?’

So I definitely find that the user-friendly aspect is really important because I didn’t have time to train someone on how to use a huge, robust system.

“It’s also nice to get all of our accounts on [Loomly]. It’s huge because we’re not going to a million different places.

"Loomly also helps us quickly design the posts so that I don’t have to log onto Twitter and wonder what the character count is. Loomly has that in there for me.

"And if we’re scheduling a post and we’re not sure when to schedule it for, the time suggestions have been very helpful. Sometimes we’d override or ignore them because they have to go out at a certain time or it doesn’t make sense to post at that time, but those helpful hints at the bottom have been huge.

💡 Loomly Tip: Leverage Loomly’s Post Optimization Tips to ensure every post fits each specific channel’s requirements and algorithm to increase your reach, impressions, and engagement.

“Since it’s all in one place, my volunteer can log in and design a post. If she has any questions, I can log in and look at it, tailoring the posts for where they’re going. For example, links show up differently on LinkedIn than they do on Facebook. And for LinkedIn, sometimes we’ll leave the link in there and for Facebook, we usually take it out.

"Just being able to manage and see that in real-time is hugely helpful.”

Favorite Loomly Feature: Post Ideas

“We also love the ideas calendar because sometimes we get to a day when we’re not really sure what we should post or it’s just helpful to have reminders.

"For example, Juneteenth is coming up. We should probably think ahead of time about what we want to say, instead of week of being like, ‘Oh, we didn’t make a post for that. Now we have to think about it.’"

💡 Loomly Tip: Loomly’s Post Ideas calendar is filled with many different fun ideas, events, and celebrations to help ensure you stay inspired all year round. You also have the option to connect to your favorite publications via RSS feeds.

"It’s been helpful to just glance at that calendar to see if anything fits our mission. We’ve done a few fun posts that have gotten a lot of engagement that have come from that calendar.

"One of the first ones we did was National Puppy Day. We have member organizations that join our organization and I knew some of them were either animal shelters or rescues. So I posted a picture of my dog when he was a puppy and did a shout-out to those member organizations.

"And then on Star Wars Day, we made a post and a GIF that was a spin on a famous quote from Star Wars and people absolutely loved it.

So it’s been a good tool to add some personality to our pages in ways that people don’t really expect.
